2021 Santa Clara Lions Football Club Spring Flag Football

Spring Flag Football is a 2 Days a week program focused on developing skills and teamwork for children with all skills sets, that can carry over into the fall football season.

Lions Football has designed this program to keep kids participating as part of Lions Football program, while making the time commitment adaptable to make sure kids can still play the other spring sports.

Lions Football has done our best to work with other sports leagues to avoid overlap but we understand there could be days that not everyone will be able to attend. We want to give kids an outlet to continue to play when it works while being respectful to the other spring sports.

Our Spring Flag Program offers 2 games on Sundays and 2 Games during the weekdays. All practices are prior to games on the same day. Games and practices are at Townsend Field. Our goal is to let kids have fun and develop them to be ready for the upcoming fall season as well as formularize kids who have not played for the Lions Football league and how much fun it can be.

League 1 is made up of 5-,6-,7-,8- and 9-year-olds and will play Sunday morning with practice starting at 8am and the 2 games starting at 9am. Each game is approximately 1 hour long. League 1 weekday games are scheduled for Tuesday with practices beginning at 5:30 and the 2 games kicking off at 6pm. All Spring Flag games will be officiated by Official High School rated Referees.

League 2 is made up of 10-,11- and 12-year-olds and will play Sunday morning with practice starting at 10am and the 2 games starting at 11am. Each game is approximately 1 hour long. League 2 weekday games are scheduled for Wednesday with practices beginning at 5:30 and the 2 games kicking off at 6pm. All Spring Flag games will be officiated by Official High School rated Referees.

League 3 is made up of 13-,14- and 15-year-olds and will play Sunday with practice starting at 12pm and the 2 games starting at 1pm. Each game is approximately 1 hour long. League 3 weekday games are scheduled for Thursday with practices beginning at 5:30 and the 2 games kicking off at 6pm. All Spring Flag games will be officiated by Official High School rated Referees.

All Leagues will have a playoff and championship tournament as well as an All-star Game.

Each Player will receive a team jersey, a mouthpiece and a face covering with a Lions Football logo.

Players will be required to wear black shorts with no pockets and no stripes. We have made arrangements to have a limited amount of Official Lions Football logo shorts available for purchase ($20) at Skills and Drills on April 18th. Each player must wear cleats while participating in the games.

What is the ‘Skills and Drills’ Day?
On Sunday April 18th Players will be grouped by League and ran through several drills to give the Coaches an opportunity to evaluate the players skill sets. All registration requirements must be completed on that day. Final registration will begin at 10am and Skill and Drills will begin at 11am and be completed approximately by 12:30. All Players will check-in at 10am and be issued a draft number that will be displayed on the back of the players shirt.

On the Wednesday evening following the 18th, all Coaches will meet and draft all participants to their Teams. Players will be contacted by the Coaches as to which Team they have been selected for.

On Sunday April 25th Game Shirts will be issued and practice and games will begin. Lions Football will supply each player with a Flag belt on the day of the games.
